“WHEN SCHOOLS FLOURISH, ALL FLOURISHES.” Martin Luther
Everyone who loves Worthington Christian Schools (WCS) knows that since our inception there has been a determination to provide a rigorous education that is distinctively Christian. We have a remarkable history that began in 1973 because of 13 visionaries who shouldered the responsibility for founding and building the school that four decades of families have enjoyed. Enrollment has steadily grown from 123 to 950 students in grades kindergarten to 12 making WCS Central Ohio’s leader in Christian education. With 2,400 alumni serving around the globe in missions, ministry, and the marketplace, the Lord is using these Warriors to advance His kingdom. Our history is rich. Our foundation is solid.
A RICH PAST IS WORTH LITTLE WITHOUT AN INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE.
WCS’ job is to ensure that our students are fully equipped to engage and vocationally compete in a rapidly changing world intellectually. But we are also charged to partner with parents and the church to prepare them to stand strong spiritually in a secular world. Our focus is on the whole student – mind, body, and spirit – and to help each student fully appreciate not only what God has created, but who He has created them to be. Certainly, there are no promises or guarantees as to who our children ultimately will become or the heights to which they might soar as the Lord is constantly at work. But our commitment to these foundational tenets is unwavering.
There are certain realities that demand our attention to ensuring WCS’ future. Aging and inadequate facilities are increasingly preventing WCS from providing the kind of environment and instruction necessary to serve this and future generations. Furthermore, we are at capacity in the middle school and high school requiring us to turn families away.
FACILITIES SHOULD NOT LIMIT THE POTENTIAL OF TEACHING AND LEARNING.
An 11 member planning committee including parents, faculty, administration and board members spent six months researching, studying, and planning for WCS’ future. The result, a five-year plan which includes four priorities and 22 actions.
Teaching and learning are the essence of WCS and are the heart of the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan. Ensuring adequate and right-fit facilities to accommodate teaching and learning is also paramount. That’s why the strategic plan presents how a smart consolidation, configuration, and expansion of facilities can enhance and sustain the WCS experience for the next 40 years.
CENTRAL OHIO NEEDS WCS. THE WORLD NEEDS WCS GRADUATES. AND WCS NEEDS YOU.
Our foundation is firm. Our roadmap for the future is sound. Our potential to prepare generations of Warriors for Christ is enormous. It’s time to move, Forward.
How we achieve what’s next for WCS matters. It’s not an us or them proposition. This is about what we can do as a community of believers from dozens of churches. Believing in and acting upon what’s necessary and possible. Together.
We must address the issues that will define future success. Forward. Together. is our opportunity to be visionaries and to shoulder the next four decades as our founding fathers did for us.
